The model number is located on a label on the side of the unit.
MAKE SURE POWER IS SWITCHED OFF AT SERVICE PANEL OR THE UNIT IS UNPLUGGED BEFORE SERVICING THE UNIT. Clean the exterior with a mild detergent, such as dish washing liquid, and dry with a soft cloth. NEVER USE ANY ABRASIVE PADS OR SCOURING POWDERS. Completely dry before restoring power. NEVER IMMERSE ELECTRICAL PARTS IN WATER. The interior can be vacuumed when build up (dirt, lint, etc.) accumulates over time. Filters should be replaced on a regular basis. Refer to the user manual of the particular model you have for further cleaning instructions and how to replace the filters.
Instruction sheets (user manuals) can be downloaded from this website. They are available on the product page in the "Downloads" tab or can be accessed on the main page of the site by clicking on the Installation & User Manuals link, then using the search box.
Air intake units provide what is known as make-up air or balanced ventilation. When you exhaust stale and/or polluted air from the home, that air needs to be replaced. Using an air intake, or as it is also know - a mechanical air intake solution, allows you to control how much and how the make-up air is coming into the residence.
Filters need to be changed on a regular basis. Frequency is determined by usage as well as environmental conditions. In general it is recommended that filters be changed once every 3 months. To change the filters refer to the user manual of you particular unit. In general, you will need to access the filters by removing the cover of the unit, then sliding the filter(s) out and replacing it with the new one.
Your air intake is designed to run constantly, brining in a steady flow or fresh air. Some models are equipped with temperature and humidity controls that will turn the unit off if the air coming into the home is too cold, too warm or too humid.
Check that the unit is secured in place and all mounting brackets are tight. If that is not the issue, turn the power off to the unit and make sure the motor is firmly secured in place.
Generally when the unit is running slower than normal it is either a blockage in the intake or the air filter needs to be changed. Follow the instructions that came with your unit to clean and/or replace any filters.
There are a few things to check. If your unit is equipped with a controller, check temperature and humidity level settings. If the intake air is not within the preset range, the fan will not turn on. Either adjust the settings or wait for the intake air temperature and/or humidity to change. Check that the unit has power. A circuit breaker may need to be reset. Turn off power to the unit and make sure all electrical connections are correct or have not come loose.

Air intake and ERV/HRV units are very similar in what they provide. An air intake unit is bringing fresh make-up air into the residence. These work in conjunction with the exhaust fans of the residence. Exhaust takes out, air intake brings in. It is a very simple system. An ERV or HRV also brings fresh air into the residence but also exhausts air out. There is an air exchange core that tempers the air coming in. In climates that have either colder or warmer conditions, it provides a way to raise or lower the temperature of the air coming in, making it less of a shock to the HVAC system. Think about how much harder the HVAC system has to work if you are bringing 90 degree air in. An ERV or HRV by tempering that air will greatly reduce the temperature, putting less stress on the HVAC system.
