The mission of the Home Ventilating Institute (HVI) is to serve consumers and members by advancing residential ventilation for healthy, energy-efficient homes. HVI is a nonprofit association offering a variety of services for manufacturers including, but not limited to, test procedures, certification and verification programs for airflow, sound and energy performance, and market support. HVI offers a wide variety of services for Consumers, Builders/Contractors, and Manufacturers. *
HVI provides a wealth of knowledge including answers to question like “How much ventilation do I need?”, “How long does my exhaust fan need to run?, and many others topics relating to ventilation and indoor air quality.
The HVI Certified Products Directory is a list of all the current products tested and certified through HVI. Products in the Certified Product Directory have been subjected to both sound (Sones) and air flow (CFM – Cubic Feet Per Minute) testing. All testing is done at HVI’s independent testing facility.
Having your product listed in the HVI Certified Product Directory means that the performance numbers can be trusted. Many manufacturers will make claims about how powerful and how quiet their fans operate, but do not have any way of proving it. When you see the HVI logo and see the listing in the HVI Certified Directory, you can be confident that the product will perform as advertised.
