Air King Limited (“Air King”) is voluntarily recalling VAL series and ESVAL series chimney range hoods manufactured in the United States from 2009 to 2018. The recall is due to the mounting hardware that was included with the range hoods. Hoods installed using the included wall anchors and not secured to a wall stud may pull away from the wall. This recall includes the following models:

Is your Range Hood Made in the USA?
This recall is only for VAL and ESVAL series hoods manufactured in the United States. To determine where your range hood was manufactured:
a. Turn off the power to the range hood at the service panel (home breaker box).
b. Remove the grease filters.
c. Locate the blower (motor) and find the label.
d. If it says “Assembled in the United States using domestic and foreign parts” or “Made in the United States”, the range hood is part of the recall, but only if the wall anchors provided with the unit were used (continue with this form to determine if the recalled wall anchors were used)
e. If label says made in any other country (China, Spain, Canada, etc.) it is NOT part of the recall.
Does your Range Hood have Blue Wall Anchors?
The recall is due to the wall anchors provided with the range hood. To determine if the recalled wall anchors provided with the range hood were used to install your range hood, proceed as follows:
a. With the power still turned off and the filters removed, look to the back corner of the range hood (you may need to shine a light into the cavity to see) and look at the keyhole slot (hole in the back of the hood with the mounting screw).
b. If you see the outer surface of the BLUE plastic wall anchor, your range hood is part of the recall.
c. If any other color wall anchor (metal, white, etc.) or no wall anchor is present, the installer used other means than the included wall anchors to install the hood and it is NOT part of the recall.
This recall is only for VAL and ESVAL series hoods manufactured in the United States.
